The End of Fear
What is fear? Well, Mr. Webster defines fear as, “a feeling of dread caused by the awareness or expectation of danger.” That sounds about right. The world we live in at the moment is a pretty dangerous place with war, famine, diseas generic Cialise, natural disasters and a host of other really big and really scary things going on. So what do we do about it? We cannot eradicate all the potential dangers we face daily so there must be another way to live without the constant fearful dread of what might happen next. There is. God said through the prophet Isaiah:
Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
I remember when I was a little boy there were times I when was afraid of the dark. The fear usually came after I watched some creepy horror movie and that night my imagination would make the movie come to life right there in my bedroom. My dad, who slept in the room next to mine, would hear me moving and maybe even the knocking of my knees, or the chatter of my teeth, would call out, “settle down son, I am right here.” I immediately calmed down because, after all, my dad was bigger and stronger than the boogie man.
Well, God says, “don’t fear, settle down, I am right here with you and I am stronger than your fear”. Can it be that simple? Can the end of fear begin at the beginning of faith? I believe so. The next time fear begins to grip your heart, call out to your Heavenly Father and remember that He is bigger and stronger than any fear you could possibly face.
Your servant in Christ,
